This is my third and hopefully not final review of a Sussex Small Batch beer, so far they've all been great so here's me hoping for the hat trick. Zucotto Stout from Sussex Small Batch is meant to be based on the popular Italian dessert, but having never had the cake I'm going to struggle to confirm if they've nailed it or not. On the plus side though I've had plenty of stouts so I can certainly tell you if this is a good one. Zucotto Stout pours about as black as any beer you'll find with a decent just off white head. Doesn't that look exactly like pretty much every stout should look?
Zucotto Stout has a lovely aroma of marshmallows, raspberries and cream which will tell you straight away this is going to be quite a decadent drink. The texture is creamy, smooth, and seriously thick, it's like drinking a proper melted cake. The taste won't let you down either. I've never had Zucotto but if it tastes like this I'm certainly going to have to give it a try. There's some gorgeous raspberry and vanilla cream flavours coming through along with just a little chocolate to finish. This is a seriously sweet, seriously tasty stout that I'm pretty sure even people who don't normally drink beers as dark as this will love. I can only give Zucotto Stout from Sussex Small Batch 10 out of 10.
