I had this pint of Wellbeck Abbey Lost Boys at the excellent Tiny Tavern in Lincoln. Wellbeck Abbey Brewery are based in Worksop which isn't too far from Lincoln so I'm classing this as drinking a local ale. The brewery have been going since 2011 so they're 10 years old now. They're also very close to Sherwood Forest so if you ever go searching for Robin Hood you can pay them a visit. Wellbeck Abbey Lost Boys is a 4.8% golden bitter that pours really well. Really it looks exactly like every proper bitter should. It's oak brown with a really good just off white head that lasts just about to the end of the pint.
Wellbeck Abbey Lost Boys has an aroma of biscuit malts and caramel. You'll get a seriously smooth texture from Wellbeck Abbey Lost Boys which makes it a really drinkable ale. What you won't get is a particularly surprising taste though. There's some very nice biscuit and caramel malts, with a proper bitter finish. It's odd I usually like more unusual beers than this, but actually Wellbeck Abbey Lost Boys has got the genre spot on. Sure you'll have had similar bitters/golden ales, but few will have been this expertly crafted. I can honestly say I really enjoyed Wellbeck Abbey Lost Boys. 9 out of 10.
