I was a little surprised and happy to find a Titanic Brewery beer I hadn't tried before in The Tiny Tavern, which is one of the best Lincoln pubs. For a long time now Stoke on Trent brewery Titanic have been one of my favourite breweries so I'm really hoping Lifeboat lives up to their name. At 4% you're unlikely to need rescuing after a pint or two of Lifeboat but hopefully that'll make it a decent session ale. Lifeboat pours a dark oak brown with a really good long lasting tan head so everything points towards this been a pretty high class bitter. The beers aroma is caramel and biscuit malts with some dark fruits, so it's more complex than I was expecting.
Lifeboat has a seriously nice smooth texture making it one of the best feeling bitters I've had, and the taste isn't bad either. As promised there's some nice caramel notes helping out the standard British bitter taste. It's a pretty good beer all round to be fair. I don't think Lifeboat is going to change your life, but if you're looking for a seriously nice, smooth bitter for a session you won't need to look much further. I'm going to give Lifeboat from Titanic Brewery 8 out of 10. It's a very good beer.
