I had this 440ml can of Peeling Good from The Hop Foundry as part of a tasting session with a couple of friends. The Hop Foundry is basically budget supermarket ALDI's brewing arm, and it's nice to see them doing something other than light beers for a change. Peeling Good is a 5.2% chocolate orange stout, which sounds like a pretty tasty concept to me. The beer pours pretty much jet black with a decent tan head, so it has all the looks of a properly good stout. If the look isn't enough to entice you in the aroma certainly will be as it genuinely smells of a Terry's Chocolate Orange. Just out of curiosity does anyone have them anytime other than Christmas?
While the texture of Peeling Good is maybe slightly less full bodied than you'd ideally like from a proper stout it's not bad at all. However the taste is what really stands out. This is a seriously tasty chocolate orange stout that tastes exactly how it should. You'll get plenty of chocolate and plenty of orange, it genuinely does taste delicious. I'm going to give The Hop Foundry Peeling Good from ALDI a near perfect 9.5 out of 10.
