I picked up this bottle of Shelby from Thornbridge Brewery in B&M so it can't have cost very much. Exactly why they feel the need to name the beer after a character from popular TV show Peaky Blinders I have no idea but here it is. I've never seen the series but I gather it's very good. Shelby (the beer) comes in a dark 500ml bottle presumably depicting the character I've never seen. It's a distinctly average 5% pale ale that pours a clear gold with no head to speak of. The aroma is pretty none descript but as the beer warms up you'll get a little whiff of fruity hops and a few malts.
Shelby has a very light almost watery feel and unfortunately the taste matches. I found there was a little bit of blackcurrant and some berry notes but really this is about as plain tasting as you'll ever get from a beer. I can only really give Shelby from Thornbridge Brewery 4 out of 10. It's refreshing but tasteless.
