Welcome to the Drink in the Sights Plum Pudding Porter from Wiper and True Beer Review. This is the last one from my birthday drinking session in Beerheadz and I really had high hopes I was leaving the best to last, after all a plum pudding porter sounds great doesn't it? I think this is my first beer from Bristol based Wiper and True Brewery so lets see how it went. Plum Pudding Porter from Wiper and True comes in a 440ml white can with a stag on the front, or maybe a reindeer given the Christmas theme. Either way it's a 6.6% porter so it packs a punch. The beer pours pretty close to completely black with no head at all, so it looks like a depressing, flat glass of cola. This isn't a good start.
Plum Pudding Porter from Wiper and True has a very understated aroma with a little plum coming through along with some sweet scents, but it's certainly not a powerful smell. The beers feel is also a somewhat underwhelming moderate feel, which is too light for a dessert beer, which I assume this is meant to be. Unfortunately as with everything else Plum Pudding Porter from Wiper and True has a very mild, almost boring taste. You really have to work to find the plum, and there's certainly very little pudding involved. I don't want to be too harsh on this because if it was called plain porter, or similar, I'd have probably gone that's a decent, standard porter, however given the name it needed to produce more. A very dull 5 out of 10.
