I had this pint of Plain Porter from Porterhouse Brew Company in the Porterhouse which is one of the top Dublin pubs. Fittingly Porterhouse is a Dublin brewery so I was very much drinking at source. To be honest I've loved Porterhouse pubs since I first visited the one in Covent Garden, London years ago so I already knew I was going to be ordering something good with Plain Porter. The beer has won several awards and clocks in at a very manageable 4.2% alcohol. Plain Porter stands about as black as you can get with a great creamy white head that really lasts well. It really is one of the best looking pints you're ever going to find.
Plain Porter has a slightly smoky roasted malts aroma while the texture is among the smoothest you'll ever have making it almost feel more like an Irish stout than a porter. The taste is anything but plain with lots of coffee and chocolate notes coming though along with the roasted malts. I really like Plain Porter from Porterhouse Brewing Company and am very comfortable giving it 10 out of 10. A must try for any dark beer enthusiast.
