I wasn't really expecting to find Ossett Brewery Voodoo on an Edinburgh drinking trip but I guess the Yorkshire brewery is spreading its wings a little. Just as a quick note the brewery have been going since 1998, and they're based near Wakefield. This was a rare move away form Scottish beers while I was in Edinburgh as I usually like to try and drink local brews. Ossett Brewery Voodoo pours just off black with some tan lacing and has a fairly indistinct aroma of chocolate and maybe a little bit of vanilla.
On the plus side the beer has a reasonably full body, but on the downside the taste, like the aroma is just a bit dull. I think it's meant to be a chocolate orange stout, but there's next to no orange in there, and even the chocolate taste is quite subdued compared to the best chocolate stouts. I found it tasted more of liquorice with maybe a few hints of blackcurrant, either way though it's not spectacular so I'm going to give Ossett Brewery Voodoo 5 out of 10.
