I bought this pint of New Bristol Brewery Toffee Cinder Stout at The Cardinals Hat in Lincoln, which is one of the great Lincoln bars. Not surprisingly the brewery is based in Bristol and all I can say is they must be pretty new, partly because of the name, and partly because I did a tour of thebest pubs in Bristol a few years ago and I would have certainly gone to their taproom if it was there at the time. New Bristol Brewery Toffee Cinder Stout is a 4.5% pastry stout that pours absolutely jet black, with a seriously good creamy white head. Just look at the photo, doesn't that look exactly like every dark beer should look?
You can smell the chocolate and toffee pouring out of Toffee Cinder Stout from across the room, it's quite intoxicating, and pretty spectacular. This is a seriously smooth and seriously thick beer, and even as you get towards the bottom that magnificent head remains. I say all this before we get to the really important bit, the taste. Well it tastes amazing. Few beers are this opulent. I was trying to put my finger on what the taste was for ages, but then it hit me, it's a liquidised Crunchie. The chocolate is there, the toffee is there, and there's some honeycombe too, only this is much tastier, and it contains alcohol, so it's much better than a Crunchie. It wont surprise anyone that I'm giving New Bristol Brewery Toffee Cinder Stout 10 out of 10. It's a spectacular beer.
