I picked up Long White Cloud from Tempest Brewing during my recent trip to Edinburgh and Glasgow, and as Tempest are a Scottish brewery right on the border with England I'm claiming it as a local brew. They've actually been going since 2010, but I'm pretty sure this is the first of their beers I've tried. Long White Cloud from Tempest Brewing is a 5.6% IPA that pours a light, hazy yellow with a pretty good white head. It looks like a decent pale beer to be fair, and I do like to be fair.
The beer has a lemon citrus aroma mixed with some tropical fruits, so it feels like it's going to be just another fruity, hoppy, citrus IPA. The texture is light as you'd expect from this type of beer, and I'm afraid to say the taste is also exactly what you'd expect. You'll get plenty of citrus coming through with grapefruit and mango. I used to enjoy a nice citrus fruit IPA as a change from my usual darker beers, but now they just seem to be everywhere all the time, almost to the point you just can't avoid them, and to make matters worse Long White Cloud from Tempest Brewing isn't even a very nice one. 3 out of 10.
