Yea it's LIDL beer festival time again, and that somewhat inevitably means we'll get a beer from Loch Lomond Brewery near Dumbarton. The brewery have been going for a decade now and I still only see them at LIDL, but maybe that's just because I'm not in Scotland. Loch Lomond Brewery Prospect Street is a 5.5% West Coast IPA. The beer pours a very clear golden amber with a white head that lasts a few seconds at best. The aroma is really weak, but you will just about manage to make out some light floral notes and maybe a little citrus.
Loch Lomond Brewery Prospect Street has a really light, refreshing texture, which is about right for the beer type. There's clearly plenty of hops in here, but they don't really taste of a great deal sadly. Much like with the aroma you're having to try and feel out the flavours. You'll get some vague tropical fruits, mixed with some citrus, but that's about the lot. On a nice hot day when you want a refreshing beer that wont mess with the taste of your barbecue this is probably alright, but on a normal dull English evening it's just too tasteless to really be enjoyable. Loch Lomond Brewery Prospect Street isn't a bad beer, it's just a really tasteless one. 5 out of 10.
