I wasn't surprised to find Lincoln Green's Tuck in the Sir John Borlase Warren, one of the best pubs in Nottingham, it is a Lincoln Green pub after all. I always wondered why the Nottingham based brewery was called Lincoln Green so I checked out their website before writing this and found that it's the colour Robin Hood wore, so now we all know. As you may have guessed all the Lincoln Green beers are named after characters from Robin Hood, so here we are in Nottingham Drinking Tuck, a SIBA award winning ale. Tuck is a 4.7% porter that pours just slightly off black with a nice looking tan head.
Lincoln Green's Tuck has a pleasant slightly chocolate aroma with some roasted malts. The texture is quite thick and full bodied, almost more like a good stout, while the taste very much matches the smell. You'll get some decent chocolate notes, and maybe just a slight taste of smoke. Tuck is a good, solid, dependable porter. It's one of those drinks you have and go 'well that's pretty much what I expected.' It's nice without been spectacular. I'm going to give Lincoln Green's Tuck 7 out of 10. It wont let you down, but it wont blow you away either.
