Welcome to the Drink in the Sights Jack in Irons from Brass Castle Beer Review. When it comes to breweries that offer gluten free beer you wont find many better than Brass Castle whose Bad Kitty in particular is truly spectacular. The Malton based brewery have been going since 2013 creating vegan and gluten free goodness. Jack in Irons from Brass Castle is a 10% imperial stout, so it certainly has a percentage that grabs your attention. The beer comes in a cool 440ml can and pours as black as night with a reasonably good just slightly off white head, so it certainly looks the part as an imperial stout. The first thing you'll notice isn't really the looks though, it's the smell, and boy does it smell.
As soon as you open the can you'll get a huge intake of coconut and a little bit of cream. The beers texture is pretty full and the taste is just lashing and lashings of coconut, with maybe just a little chocolate backing it up. Because the aroma and taste are so strong it wont really feel like you're drinking a 10% beer so be careful not to over do it. If you like coconuts or for that matter Bounty chocolates you'll probably enjoy Jack in Irons from Brass Castle, but it's not for me. Coconuts aren't to my taste, and we all know Bounty's are the worse chocolate. 5 out of 10.
