Welcome to the Drink in the Sights IPA from E1 Brew Co Beer Review. I picked up this can of IPA from Home Bargains for one pound, which means it'll have to taste pretty bad to not be a bargain. E1 Brew Co have been operating for nearly a decade and all their beers have similarly inventive names so we have IPA, Pilsner Lager and CBD Lager. I'll get to the latter two another time I'm sure. The brewery is based in London, or Shoreditch to be more precise. I've only ever been out in Shoreditch once and I hated it so really we aren't getting off to a good start with that.
IPA from E1 Brew Co comes in a very bland navy blue and white 440ml can with a similarly bland 5% alcohol content. It's fair to say no great expense was spent on the branding, but I don't mind that and actually if they do well the minimalistic approach to the can and the beer names will make them instantly recognisable in their own way. IPA actually pours quite nicely with a typically clear yellow body and solid white head that lasts well. One thing I would say about the look is that if you told me it was a lager I'd probably believe you.
The beers aroma is also quite pleasant with some clear wheat notes, some citrus and lots of hops. Or to be more precise four hops... Target, Centennial, Amarillo and Chinook. I'm pretty sure I've had them all before so now it's all down to the blending to see if they're actually used well. The texture of IPA from E1 Brew Co is as expected it's light, bubbly, and reasonably refreshing plus the head manages to last even while drinking which is fairly unusual for a cheap IPA.
All in all I'd have to say IPA does nothing one thousand other IPA's haven't done before. Nothing really stands out in the taste and that's probably down to having so many different hops fighting for superiority. You'll get a bit of citrus, some general fruity notes and that's about it. For a budget beer IPA from E1 Brew Co is a good option, but as a tasting experience it's all very much been done before, maybe that's why they didn't feel the need to expand on the name at all. I'm going to give IPA from E1 Brew Co 6 out of 10. It's not a bad beer but they really should have just called it generic cheap IPA.
