I had this pint of Hollow Stone Brewery's Krubera Blueberry and Mocha Stout at The Six Barrels in Nottingham. It's one of the great Nottingham bars so if you get chance pay it a visit. Hollow Stone Brewery are based in Nottingham so this was very much a local beer. Other than their location I know very little about Hollow Stone Brewery so lets just talk about the beer. Krubera Blueberry and Mocha Stout pours absolutely jet black with a decent tan head. The aroma certainly concentrates more on the coffee than the blueberry, but then I guess that is the more recognisable smell.
Krubera has a nice thick stout body, which is how it should be. Sadly the taste doesn't quite live up to the name. You'll get a little chocolate and quite a bit of coffee, but I couldn't find any blueberry, and for me that would have been the bit that made it stand out. There's plenty of good mocha beers already out there after all. I'm not saying it's a bad beer, and actually as mocha beers go it's probably one of my favourites, I'd have just liked to taste the promised blueberry. Hollow Stone Brewery's Krubera Blueberry and Mocha Stout is a very tasty beer, just don't expect too many blueberry's. 7.5 out of 10.
