Personally I love planning holidays almost as I love going on them. I'll spend hours browsing itineraries, reading blogs, checking out TripAdvisor and Viator for tours and excursions, and all that's before I've even booked. But then I've usually only done 5-6 day city breaks. They're nice and straightforward. Fly to one airport, get to one hotel, and leave the same way you came.
But what if you wanted to plan something a little more exotic? Don't get me wrong I love my short city breaks to the likes of Riga, Barcelona or Budapest, I could go on them all year long. And I do try too. But can you imagine the hassle of arranging a multi-stop once in a life time trip to Kenya to see the animals you've only ever seen in zoos in their natural habitat? Or trying to arrange your own complete tour of Bali with a visit to see the awesome Komodo Dragons? The logistics alone would be a nightmare, and if you missed just one transfer the holiday would be ruined.
This is where Exoticca comes in. They will do all the work for you. Their holidays are all ABTA and ATOL protected. They arrange the flights, the transfers, the hotels, activities, a large proportion of the meals, and English speaking tour guides for your whole trip. Not only that but all the bookings come with free cancellation, which is something I never really worried about pre Covid 19, but which I always insist on now. I can't think of much worse than realising a couple of weeks before heading on a trip that most the sights had locked down but I couldn't re-book.
Just to give you an example of what's on offer. The 15 day Sri Lanka Tour will have you seeing ancient cities, newborn turtles, going on safari, seeing the Golden Temple, the gorgeous Beruwala Beaches, Lion Rock, a tea plantation, and much, much more. Now that really is my idea of a dream holiday, and it comes in at less than £1600. Given that you'll struggle to get a return flight for less than £500 the whole package is exceptionally good value.
These are once in a lifetime trips. The type of trips you tell your grandchildren about, or if like me you can't think of anything worse than having kids, the type of trips you write about in your website. I'm used to paying £150-£300 per holiday so if I'm going to go somewhere the flight alone costs more than this I'm leaving nothing to chance. The fact that Exoticca comes with a Trustpilot rating of 4.2 out of 5 gives me a fair level of reassurance I wont be let down.
In a couple of years time I'll hopefully just about have my mortgage paid off and be able to start really expanding my travel horizons. At the time of writing this piece my only trip outside of Europe was to Marrakech which barely counts given how close it is to Spain. That doesn't stop me searching for my dream trips now though, and I do think my first one will be with Exoticca, probably to the Galapagos Islands to see where my pet lizard came from.
