At 89 pence for the can 330ml can I was never going to pass this up Citrus City Orange Pale Ale especially at 6% alcohol, that's great value for money. For some reason it's marked as by Down South Brewing, but as far as I can tell it's a LIDL exclusive so there's not much to say about the brewery. Citrus City Orange Pale Ale from LIDL pours quite a pale clear brown with a head that vanishes after a few seconds. You'll get quite a pleasant floral aroma with the expected orange notes coming through nicely. It has to be said everything is pretty much as you'd expect so far.
Citrus City Orange Pale Ale from LIDL has a nice light and refreshing texture, with a surprisingly pleasant bitter and biscuit malts taste, backed up by the orange flavours. I've had an orange beer from LIDL before and it was horrible, so this is a vast improvement mainly because it still tastes like a beer. Sure there's plenty of orange notes, but they aren't completely overpowering this time. I'm not going to pretend this is anything exciting, but it's excellent value for money and an easy drinking beer. 7.5 out of 10.
