You can only buy Breadwinner from Saltaire Brewery at Morrison's, and the beer is brewed with bread from their bakery so you're unlikely to find it on tap anywhere. I picked this 500ml bottle up as something a bit different to share with a fellow beer drinker along with a few other tasty looking ales. Just for the record Saltaire are a Shipley based brewery who have been going for about 15 years now. Breadwinner is a 4.4% golden ale which pours quite a nice yellow/gold. You'll get a reasonable head, but it'll drop to lacing within the first minute or two. I'd say this is a decent looking beer.
The aroma is very much malts dominated with some clear bread notes coming through. The texture is just light of medium bodied, and the taste is genuinely really nice, well as long as you like bread. I really wasn't expecting this to taste quite as bready as it does. Beyond the bread taste there's actually a little bit of caramel coming through, which adds a little bit extra to the mix. If you want something a little different head down to Morrison's and pick up a bottle of Breadwinner from Saltaire. It's really very drinkable and very deserving of a score of 8.5 out of 10.
