I'm pretty sure this used to be a Wells/Youngs beer but anyway Banana Bread Beer is now brewed for Marstons by Eagle Brewery in Bedford and I picked up a bottle from my local Morrison's to sip on during Euro 2020 or as it's now known Euro 2021. The beer comes in a 500ml bottle with a suitably yellow label and banana theme, you can't really miss it. Banana Bread Beer pours a copper red with a small white head, and boasts a not to be sniffed at 5.2% alcohol. Lets not beat around the bush though the outstanding thing as soon as you pour this beer is the smell.
You'll be instantly hit by an aroma of bananas and more bananas so if you like bananas you're probably in for a treat. The texture is medium so it's pretty drinkable while the taste perfectly matches the smell. I'm not really sure why this is called Banana Bread Beer rather than just banana beer as it's all about the yellow fruit although you may get a hint of banoffee pie in there too. There's not really much else to say about this beer other than if you like bananas you'll love it, if you don't like them you'll hate it. I love them so I'm going to give Banana Bread Beer from Eagle Brewery 8 out of 10 more than anything else because it's pretty unique and does exactly what it promises minus the bread.
