paris bars: the best craft beer pubs in paris
Welcome to the Drink in the Sights Guide to the best bars in Paris. Your guide to the ultimate craft beer in Paris pub crawl. While Paris, and France in general, may be much better known for wine and champagne they've really stepped up to the mark in terms of their beer selection, and their beer themed pubs over the last decade or so. Obviously Kronenbourg is the big brewer, and rather surprisingly Kronenbourg Blanc is one of my favourite wheat beers, but you should keep an eye out for beers from BAPBAP, Frog, Outland, and Paname, which are all top class local microbreweries, and I do like drinking local. Right lets get on with this guide to the best pubs in Paris

Paris Pubs
Paname Brewing Company
Where better to start this guide than the tap house of one of the best brewers in town? You'll find 9 beers on tap, plus a bunch of bottles. Among their beers you'll find Bete Noire, which is one of the best black IPA's I've ever had, so try giving that a go. The building is absolutely gorgeous with the brewing equipment proudly on show, wooden floor boards, bare brick walls, and just a general industrial vibe. Plus on a nice day you can sit outside by the river. This really is an exceptional place, with exceptional staff who clearly love their beer. There's simply no other place to start a guide to the best bars in Paris.

On the subject of brewery taps we have BAPBAP pouring 8 of their own beers on tap along with a selection of around 20 bottles. The building is sleek, sparse, and industrial with the brewing equipment on show and wooden floorboards. This really is an uncomplicated, uncluttered place where you can enjoy your beer tasting safe in the knowledge that beer is all BAPBAP is interested in. The staff are proper beer people so they'll guide you well. One of the best pubs in Paris especially for craft beers.

Frog Pubs
With 8 Frog bars in Paris I'm not going to go through each one individually, but you need to know they are all excellent. Make sure you try the Zonk as it's not often you get a smoked amber beer. All the Frog pubs have wooden floorboards, bare brick walls, brewing equipment on show, and all the other wonderful trappings you'd expect in great bars. They're just exactly what pubs should be, fun, great looking, and staffed by people who know how to keep the craft beers coming. I know it's a bit of a cheat to lump them all together, but I really couldn't choose between these wonderful Paris pubs.

La Fine Mousse
With an incredible 20 taps servings the very best French and international beers La Fine Mousse is a staple in any guide to the best bars in Paris. The wooden bar is sleek, the bare stone walls are wonderful, there's some gloriously comfy leather sofas, and wooden floorboards. The whole place is just about as close to perfection as a bar can get. On top of the array of craft beers on tap you'll also find enough bottles to keep you going for years and some of the most knowledgeable and friendly bar staff in Paris. You won't find many bars anywhere better than La Fine Mousse.

Brewberry Bar
Speaking of bars with a whole lot of beer on tap I bring you Brewberry. With 24 beers ready to be poured by bar staff who really know their stuff this really is one of the top Paris pubs. You'll find every style of beer from every corner of the globe in Blueberry. There's wooden floorboards and beer memorabilia aplenty in this snug Paris craft beer drinkers haven.

Hoppy Corner
With a very impressive 15 beers on tap, plus loads more in bottles, and the moto 'don't worry be hoppy' what's not to like about Hoppy Corner? This is very much a proper beer pub with a vibrant atmosphere that always seems to be manageably busy. The bare stone walls give the place a proper rustic vibe, and the bar staff are proper beer geeks who are more than happy to talk about all things hoppy. One of the best Paris pubs.

Paris Bars
La Ruée vers l'Orge
This translates, according to Google, as The Barley Rush, which is quite a cool name for a bar/bottle shop. You can drink in or take your beers out, but you really should stay in this wonderful bare stone cellar bar. I know I've said it before and I'll say it again but there's just something special about a cellar bar. There's just row after row, after row, after row of bottles to choose from, many of which are from France, but I think just about every country on the globe must be accounted for here. If you like drinking exceptional beers in an atmospheric location you'll love this. Certainly one of the best bars for craft beer in Paris.

Micro Brasserie Balthazar
I love a micro brewery, so I was always going to love Micro Brasserie Balthazar. Exactly why there's a donkey theme throughout I'm not quite sure, but I like it. This is a gorgeous Paris pub with comfy seats, brewing equipment proudly on show, and donkey iconography on every glass, every beer mat, and every wall. Micro Brasserie Balthazar isn't just a pretty face though and with 10 beers on tap you won't be going thirsty. A great Paris micro brewery tap.

Les Cuves de Fauve
While we're on the subject of wonderful Paris Microbreweries I give you Les Cuves de Fauve. With 16 beers on tap this is an absolute must on any Paris pub crawl. Les Cuves de Fauve is a wonderfully sleek, industrial building with brewing equipment on show, and even some bare brick walls, and you know I love bare brick walls. This really is a proper beer drinkers paradise run by proper beer geeks who really know how to brew, and how to serve great beer. An absolute must on any guide to the best bars in Paris.
|
Express de Lyon
With 15 beers from around Europe on tap and a generous supply of hoppy goodness in bottles Express de Lyon will cater for all your drinking needs. This is a proper stylish pub with a really nice wooden bar, some of the comfiest seats you'll find in Paris bars, and a fun giant clock hanging from the ceiling, just to ensure you don't miss your train to Lyon. A quality pub with a great craft beer selection in Paris.

Mikkeller
I first fell in love with Mikkeller Bars when I visited their home city of Copenhagen. They are very much the big craft beer brewers over there in the same way Brewdog have become massive in the UK, so it's no great surprise to see they've expanded to Barcelona. They have some exceptional beers including Beer Geek Breakfast Stout. Mikkeller Bar in Paris features 20 beers on tap, including several of their own, and some from fellow Danish brewer War Pigs, along with some Spanish offerings. The bar is typically sleek with Mikkeller cartoon characters on the walls and the glasses. The staff are excellent, and this is certainly one of the best pubs in Paris.

I.B.U
With 10 beers on tap this cosy little beer drinkers pub is the ideal place to end this guide to the best bars in Paris. It's a lovely unassuming place with wooden floorboards, a cool bar area, and a fridge full of hoppy goodness. There's always a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and the bar staff clearly know their beers. You can also get a pretty epic meat and cheese platter for a very reasonable price, and what could be better with a tasty craft beer in Paris?
