florence bars: the best craft beer pubs in florence
Welcome to the Drink in the Sights guide to the best pubs in Florence, your guide to the ultimate pub crawl and craft beer in Florence. I still hold that Florence is the most beautiful city I've ever visited, and now the craft beer revolution has finally taken hold in this great city so lets make the most of it.
Piazzale Michelangelo
Drink in the Sights is all about drinking beer with spectacular views and there's no more spectacular views on the planet than the one from Piazzale Michelangelo as you stand with a replica of the Statue of David behind you gazing out over the incredible Florence skyline. You can buy a few beers and then take them up the hill or there's vendors selling reasonably priced bottles of lager up there. I don't think there's anywhere in the world I'd rather be at sunset than Piazzale Michelangelo with a beer. Beyond any doubt this is where to drink craft beer in Florence.

Don't worry though there's still some great pubs in Florence you can go to after seeing Piazzale Michelangelo starts getting a little chilly.
Florence Pubs
I can't really start my guide to the best pubs in Florence anywhere other than Brewdog. I'm sure everyone reading this will have at some point come across Brewdog. One of the true heroes of the craft beer revolution, and brewer of one of my all time favourite beers Jet Black Heart. The pub in Florence isn't as big as most Brewdog bars, but it's got all the usual Brewdog selection and fantastic artwork on the walls. Located not far from the central station, this really is a gem of a bar in Florence, and by Italian standards the pricing is fairly reasonable. This is a must visit for any beer enthusiast. This really is one of the best pubs in Florence.

With 8 predominantly local beers on tap, and dozens of bottles, this small but friendly bar is a great stop, and the food is fantastic. The barman knows what he was talking about, which is always a bonus when you don't recognise many of the beer names. And he was happy to help, offering tasters to help decide which beer to choose. This and Brewdog became the standard one on the way home bars for us. Beyond any doubt one of the best pubs in Florence.

Beer House Club
This bar does exactly what it says on the tin, housing loads of quality beers on tap. It's probably the biggest craft beer pub in Florence, and certainly had one of the best beer selections. It also has a covered outdoor area which was nice to sit in on a warm day. The selection alone in Beer House Club makes it one of the best pubs in Florence, and sitting close to the river in the city center it provides an excellent resting spot between sights.

PanicAle
With 10 beers on tap and proper beer geek staff PanicAle is a must on any list of the best bars in Florence. There's a nice mix of mainly Italian craft beers mixed with a few from the likes of Germany and America. This is a proper pub with bare walls and real rustic feel. This really is one of the great Florence pubs.

Archea Brewery
Archea really is a proper pub near Pitti Palace. There's 14 craft beers on tap, which is enough to keep pretty much anyone happy. The staff really know their stuff, and I love anywhere that keeps beer pins on the walls. The wooden bar and wooden floor boards only serve to add to the proper pub feel of this Florentine beauty.

Off The Hook
This is probably the best looking pub in Florence. Behind the wonderful wooden horseshoe shaped bar there's a glorious forest mural, while the rest of the bar is bright red. There's chandeliers on the ceiling making this feel like a truly royal place to enjoy a beer. I's not all look at Off The Hook though as you'll find 6 Italian craft beers waiting for your tasting pleasure. A must on any Florence craft beer pub crawl.

Birreria Art 17
Where better to end a Florence pub crawl than the wonderful Birreria Art 17? This place has all the best pub trapping like a wooden bar, wooden floor boards, and even wood beam ceilings. More importantly than that though there's 10 mainly Italian beers waiting for you on tap, plus a substantial bottle collection. As usual the staff are fantastic and more than happy to help you pick your beers. There's no where I'd rather finish a guide to the best bars in Florence than this.
